Have you seen that viral TikTok video where the user asks their followers to share something their job has taught them that they’ll never forget? Well, Feel Good with Andy Maqondwana decided to ask the same question to its listeners.
“Think of the places that you’ve worked at. The things and the jobs that you’ve done, and then think about the things it taught you that you’ll never forget. To this day, you still apply this skill.”
The disclaimer was: Anything but the fact that your colleagues are not your friends.
One brave listener shared that they learned to put themselves first and prioritise their mental wellness. “I was forced to resign, and I was hospitalised for depression. I don’t know what would’ve happened had I not resigned,” she said.
Another listener who works in home loan collections shared some valuable lessons.
The first lesson she learned was not to finance a house with a boyfriend and, secondly, not to get married in community of property.
“Worst case scenario, a boyfriend and a girlfriend buy a bond and a few months later, the girlfriend wants to leave and the boyfriend is bitter. He doesn’t want to sell the property, we debit the bond from the girlfriend’s house. She had to move back home but the debit order is going off on her account.”
