In today’s first sitting of the House of Parliament, Patriotic Alliance Leader Gayton McKenzie said the party would back the progressive policies of the Government of National Unity.
According to McKenzie, the party’s goal is to become the head of the ministry of police or home affairs. He shared the complexities of coalition governments and how political formations need to find ways to work together.
“We can not sell out people that trusted us. Abahambe is on the table, but this is a coalition, I can’t come here and have my way. That’s what the DA did to us in the past, I can’t come here and say, ‘You will’, I must do what the other parties want, it’s a negotiation.”

According to him, the PA seeks to empower all South Africans economically and to serve them through the government of national unity. PA’s 2.06% election performance will allow seven members to represent the party in the National Assembly.
