Soon-to-be retired Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan thinks former President Jacob Zuma’s return to politics is leading the country into dangerous times.
Speaking at the National Union of Metalworkers (NUM) conference in Boksburg, Gordhan said Zuma’s return is State Capture 2.0 in the making.
According to Gordhan, the collapse of state-owned entities such as Eskom was due to unqualified and corrupt individuals occupying positions in an attempt to milk state-owned entities.
“Haven’t we learned as a country yet? The kind of damage that has been caused, the kind of time it takes to recover. And we haven’t recovered yet.
What gives you the right to come along and resurface some of these people, so they can go back to the same institutions and destroy them again?
It’s a dangerous time.”
Zuma has made a return to politics with the newly formed MK Party which won a majority vote in KZN during the 2024 National and Provincial elections.
