Sports reporter Fabrizio Romano and various sports outlets in Europe are reporting that Manchester United coach Eric ten Hag will remain as the club’s head coach following reports that he would be sacked by the club.
Before Man United’s historic win over Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium, some reports suggested that ten Hag would be relieved of his duties.
However, the win over rivals Man City appears to have led to powers that be at United to have a change of heart.
Fabrizio Romano also reports that talks between United and Erik ten Hag’s agents are already underway and advanced, with all parties anticipating an agreement on a new contract.
In April 2022, Man United announced the appointment of Eric ten Hag from Ajax Amsterdam.
Eric ten Hag signed with Man United until 2025 with an option to renew his contract.
John Murtough, the club’s Football Director at the time said about the Dutchman’s appointment: “During the past four years at Ajax, Erik has proved himself to be one of the most exciting and successful coaches in Europe, renowned for his team’s attractive, attacking football and commitment to youth.
“In our conversations with Erik leading up to this appointment, we were deeply impressed with his long-term vision for returning Manchester United to the level we want to be competing at, and his drive and determination to achieve that.”
“We wish Erik the best of luck as he focuses on achieving a successful end to the season at Ajax and look forward to welcoming him to Manchester United this summer.”
