With just over 51% of the vote counted, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has apologised for issues with its election results system.
The IEC’s National and Provincial Elections (NPE) results portal has been down for over an hour and cannot be accessed.
Kaya News reporter Tsholofelo Tsoku who is stationed at the elections Results Operation Centre (ROC) in Midrand, confirmed the IEC is experiencing “technical glitches”.
“For the past hour, results on both the IEC website and the dashboard results at the ROC have not been accessible.
It is reported that the problem has not spilled over to the provincial results centre across the country.
Currently, it is unclear what the cause of the issue is. We await clarification from the IEC on the matter.”
