Ya neh! The Roast of Minnie Dlamini was fiery and as much as the TV presenter and actress tried to play it cool, most of the jabs were below the belt.
The panel of roasters included Trevor Gumbi, Shahan Ramkissoon, Celeste Ntuli, Lasizwe, Penny Lebyane, Da L.E.S, Siv Ngesi, and Robert Marawa. Minnie’s roast was hosted by Jason Goliath and Tumi Morake.
Robert Marawa was the first to hit Minnie where it hurts most, pointing out her failed marriage to Quinton Jones being the “biggest gig of her career.”
“In my travels to Nkandla you could say (Minnie is) the Belle of the ball, the lady of the moment, and as Quinton calls you, the meal ticket.
Excuse the Quinton jokes, but I think your failed marriage was the biggest gig of your career and we all know it.
No guys, I really think it’s wrong what Minnie did to that guy.
I mean knocking him up like that, the guy was going somewhere. Not far. But he was going.
You know what? I just realized that Minnie Dlamini is a blesser!”
Robert Marawa tore into Minnie Dlamini’s failed marriage to Quinton Jones
Ouch! Marawa who delivered blow after fatal blow about Minnie’s recent divorce from the father of her son, basically called the roastee, Quinton’s blesser, making reference to headlines that Minnie would be paying her ex-husband spousal maintenance.
Minnie who put those headlines to rest by stating firmly that she would not be paying Quinton a cent, did clapback at her roasters, however weakly and Marawa served the strongest hits.
Robert Marawa went so far as to turn Minnie Dlamini into a “verb” to describe an action that causes irreparable damage.
“I feel that Minnie Dlamini should become a verb, to be used to describe irreparable damage.
To give you an example, remember the time when you Minnie Dlamini’d the whole national football team?
Let me remind you Minnie because I know you forgot shem.
It was 2010 neh, and Itumeleng Khune, you remember him? He was Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana’s No.1 goalkeeper. He was considered one of the best goalkeepers not just in South Africa but around the world, and then, he met Minnie Dlamini, aka the Zulu Jada Pinkett.”
Most of her critics highlighted that celebrities only take on a roast when their career has hit it’s lowest point, but Minnie shared previously that she grew tired of living life online and reading all the hurtful things people say about her, most of which is untrue.
If you haven’t watched the Roast of Minnie Dlamini yet, you are missing out on more than just her unflattering dress, so stream it all on Showmax this weekend.
