Sizwe Dhlomo has officially taken over the breakfast slot on Kaya 959 after filling in for nearly a year. His new show, Siz the World will be on air from 06:00 to 09:00 Monday to Friday. Siz will be joined by Sol Phenduka, Mpho Maboi, and Mfundo Mabalane.
The 40-year-old believes that what sets his new show apart is the approach, stressing the importance of always putting the listener first.
“Our approach to content is: What does the listener need to be informed about first thing in the morning? It’s a combination of news and, obviously, entertainment, which is also important.
“We try to play the right music, something that is time-appropriate and upbeat, and improve the mood.
“In between those, I’ll break down the information into sizable chunks. Something that you can ingest even when you help your kids get ready, you’ll know enough before you start your day to be able to converse about.”
Siz The World will have a few changes from 959 Breakfast; however, the team will bring the same energy that they have had over the past year, and the introduction of a few new features will heighten the experience.
“You’ll remember when I left Kaya Drive; that was a version of the show that I created myself and hand-picked myself because I had been there for two years, going on three. I was standing in all along, and now this is my show. The people you hear won’t change, but the team will be bolstered up.”
With two decades in the entertainment industry, Siz ensures that his work stays fresh and relatable by aligning it with where he is in life.
“I am 40 now, and the type of show I’m doing reflects this stage of my life.”
He emphasises the importance of evolving with age and not getting stuck in a rut by trying to hold onto past shows.
Sizwe has enjoyed great success in both the television and radio industries over the years. He believes he couldn’t have achieved this without the support of his audience.
