An Israeli airstrike has killed 7 World Central Kitchen (WCK) food aid workers in Gaza on Monday, 01 April.
This was confirmed by WCK CEO Erin Gore who shared that the aid workers had just offloaded humanitarian food aid at a warehouse in Deir al-Balah when they were attacked.
The food aid was brought to Gaza via a ship.
Both armoured vehicles were branded with WCK logos and the aid workers were said to be travelling in a deconflicted zone which had been coordinated with the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) before.
“This is not only an attack against WCK, this is an attack on humanitarian organisations showing up in the most dire of situations where food is being used as a weapon of war.
This is unforgivable.”

The 7 food aid workers who were killed were Australian, Polish, British, Palestinian, as well as a dual US-Canadian citizen.
WCK will be pausing operations as a result and will be making a decision about the future of its work in Gaza.
In response, the IDF shared with the BBC that it will “review the tragic incident at the highest level.”
“Following the reports regarding the World Central Kitchen personnel in Gaza today, the IDF is conducting a thorough review at the highest levels to understand the circumstances of this tragic incident.
The IDF makes extensive efforts to enable the safe delivery of humanitarian aid, and has been working closely with WCK in their vital efforts to provide food and humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.”
