Former Mamelodi Sundowns winger Lerato Chabangu has hit rock bottom since retiring from a successful soccer career.
Chabangu recently appeared on the TV show I Blew It, where he opened up about the poor decisions that led to his financial downfall.
The 39-year-old admitted to sending money to his ex to cover his monthly expenses, only to later discover she wasn’t using it for that purpose.
“While I was in PE, I was told that my properties were all on auction. I don’t know what happened to my belongings and furniture.”
This devastating turn of events led him to retire from the sport he loved. “I lost everything I worked so hard for. It feels as though I never played soccer. I have nothing to show for it. I lost faith in life, even when people offered to assist me,” Chabangu recounted.
He also disclosed that he hadn’t seen his child in a decade. “It would be painful to visit them now because I don’t have any money,” Chabangu added.
