Not even injuries can stop Jürgen Klopp’s team as Liverpool win a 10th Carabao Cup by beating Chelsea 1-0 on Sunday, 25 February.
Left with no choice but to pull out the best from Liverpool’s academy, Klopp’s team consisted mostly of players under 20s.
Facing a long list of injuries which includes 11 of his star players including Trent Alexander Arnold, Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboslai, Darwin Nunez, Alisson Becker, Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota, Klopp lost another player in Sunday’s encounter with Chelsea after Ryan Gravenberch was stretchered off.
A stunning extra-time header by Captain Virgil Van Dijk added to the Reds’ record-breaking trophy cabinet.
Klopp who announced his resignation from Liverpool at the end of this season in January, said this was easily the most special trophy he’s won in his career of over 20-years.
Speaking at the post-match conference, the German manager said he did not care about leaving behind a legacy at the English Football Club and was just focused on doing his job as best he can until his last day.
“I couldn’t care less about my legacy, I am not here to create one.
Nothing we’ve done in the last eight or nine years is replaceable, we couldn’t have done the same at another club. It was exactly made for this combination. It is fantastic.
We learned so much in that time, the people learned so much. That’s the one thing – it’s not a problem if a manager leaves, if these people would leave, our supporters, that would be a problem.
As long as they are the way they are, Liverpool Football Club will be fine and that’s the most important thing.”

Klopp’s Liverpool are currently at the top of the English Premier League table, with a point separating them from Manchester City.
Liverpool are also eyeing the FA Cup this season, and face Southampton in the 5th Round on Wednesday, 28 February.
