Fuel goes up again! – As of Wednesday you’ll pay 75c more for a litre of unleaded petrol.
Gwede Mantashe, the minister of mineral resources and energy, has revealed the fuel price adjustment for February 2024, which indicates an increase in the cost of both petrol and diesel.
Mantashe explained that South Africa’s fuel prices are adjusted every month, informed by international and local factors.
The price changes he announced will be implemented on Wednesday, February 7, 2023. Customers will now pay an additional 75c for a litre of unleaded gasoline in grades 93 and 95, while diesel will see a wholesale price increase of between 70c and 73c.

Illuminating paraffin’s wholesale price will rise by 53 cents per litre, while LP gas’s maximum retail price will rise by 37 cents per kilogram.
- Diesel (0.05% sulphur): Seventy-three cents per litre (73.00 c/l) increase.
- Diesel (0.005% sulphur): Seventy cents per litre (70.00 c/l) increase.
- Illuminating Paraffin (wholesale): Firty-three cents per litre (53.00 c/l)
increase. - SMNRP for IP: Seventy-one cents per litre (71.00 c/l) increase.
Maximum LPGas Retail Price: Thirty-seven cents per kilogram (37.00 c/kg)
increase.
