Last Friday, PSL Champions Mamelodi Sundowns announced that they had signed Orlando Pirates midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch.
The news did not sit well with some Orlando Pirates fans, who expressed their disappointment on social media. In response to the backlash, Lorch issued a statement.
The player shared that his time at Orlando Pirates was “filled with unforgettable memories, personal growth, and the chance to play alongside very talented football players.”
Lorch extended his deepest appreciation to the chairman, Dr. Irvin Khoza, for providing him with the opportunity to play for a club that has “so much history” and for all his support during the difficult times in his life.
He also extended his thanks to Coach José Riveiro for his belief in him, the former and current coaches, the staff, the entire management team, and his teammates for all the memories they have built together.
Most importantly, Lorch thanked the passionate Buccaneers, who have been his “source of inspiration.”
“Your loyalty and unwavering support has fueled my journey and it has been an honour to wear the iconic Buccaneer jersey.”
As he embarks on a new journey as a Mamelodi Sundowns player, Lorch says that he’ll do his best to support his teammates and contribute towards the club’s success.
