Durban businessman Martin Stander firmly believes that his vehicle was utilized as an Uber while it was under the care of Aryans ParkAndSmile, a long-term parking service specializing in park-and-fly. Stander used this service by booking online through the renowned agent, ParkVia, during his trip to Cape Town from January 3rd to January 8th.
Sizwe Dhlomo recounted his encounter with a friend who entrusted his car to an airport valet service. Sizwe expressed his belief that we often place too much trust in people we don’t know when it comes to safeguarding our possessions. Conversely, Sol Phenduka holds a different perspective, acknowledging the convenience that these services bring.
Sizwe shared another crazy experience where one of his buddies left his car at the car wash, only to have it stolen. “He left the vehicle and the keys there, and when he went back, they told him they had sent someone to come and drop the car.”
Sol added that there are a lot of businesses that operate on faith and trust and highlighted the convenience thereof. “It is convenient to go to the car wash, get something done, and get it later on. Uber, for example. You get into a car with a total stranger, but it is so convenient. I don’t blame people for using these services.”
