Zandie Khumalo Gumede is showing her sister Kelly Khumalo unwavering support amid fresh accusations against her.
This after two of the five men accused of gunning down football icon, Senzo Meyiwa at Kelly’s family home in Vosloorus in 2014, accused the singer of being the mastermind to his killing.
Lead investigator, Brigadier Bongani Gininda shared that police were ready to arrest Kelly Khumalo but claimed the decision to pursue charges against the gospel star was not followed through on by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).
This isn’t the first time that Kelly Khumalo has been implicated in the murder of her former lover and father to her daughter, and the Empini hitmaker faced intense public scrutiny after a cellphone data analyst revealed that Kelly had been in communication with one of the men accused just days before Meyiwa was gunned down.
The narrative that Kelly Khumalo was involved in Senzo’s murder was one that previous defence attorney, former Advocate Malesela Teffo pushed strongly.
Teffo, who has since been disbarred, accused Kelly of being the one who pulled the trigger of the gun that killed Senzo.
Last year, as the murder trial for Senzo Meyiwa began anew, calls to have Kelly Khumalo cancelled intesified, and a number of events dropped the singer from lineups.
With everything that her sister has faced since Senzo Meyiwa’s murder, Zandie has reiterated that she remains fully behind Kelly.
Zandie shared her support for Kelly in an Instagram post, telling her followers that her sister wants the perpetrators brought to book.
“I will stand with you foreve because I know your heart, and I know Senzo is standing with you wherever he is.
You know we are lions we don’t worry about sheep’s opinions.
To those who have been DMing and texting asking if she’s ok, ningakhathazeki uphila njengosheleni (don’t worry she is living and shining), and just like all of us she wants the perpetrators to be brought to book, and they will be sekuseduze (it’s close).
I’m telling you this ‘cos I know how much you love and care for her, so I don’t want you guys to worry khululekani nje isazokhala ingoma kwa Khumalo (just relax, the song will still ring at Khumalo’s house).”
