Three years ago, a listener told her husband that she wanted to go back to school. He suggested that they have one more child to complete their family, and then she’ll go back to school. By the grace of God, they were blessed with a bouncing baby. However, when she revisited the topic a year later, her husband wasn’t supportive of her going back to school. While contemplating going back to school without the blessing of her husband, she turns to The Best T in the City with Tbose, questioning if she’s being selfish.
“Three years ago, I told my husband that I wanted to go back to school. He suggested that we should have another child to complete our family before I pursue my education. Luckily, last year we were blessed with our youngest child. This year, I thought he would be open to discussing my plans again. However, his expression turned sour in an instant.
“He explained that we are financially stable, so he doesn’t see the need for me to go back to school. He also expressed concern that I would be overwhelmed with books and not have enough time for him and the kids. What I don’t understand is that I’m not doing this for him but for myself.
“Honestly, I have always dreamt of obtaining a second degree. I have already given him children; we have a beautiful home; and we have built a life together. Frankly, I’m tired of begging him for support. I’m seriously considering enrolling in school and dealing with the consequences later. Am I being selfish for wanting this?”
