Over time, the concept of releasing a statement on the anniversary of the African National Congress (ANC) — known as the January 8th Statement—became customary.
This year, Ramaphosa’s statement on January 8th took a slightly different approach, concentrating mostly on the party’s accomplishments since 1994.
During his speech, Ramaphosa emphasized that 2.5 million individuals received social assistance in 1999. He contrasted it with the latest figures, which indicate that 18 million individuals obtain grants.
Ramaphosa emphasized that ANC is the only party that has a policy of equal representation for women. Declaring that the ANC does not view women in administration as second-class citizens and that the party is dedicated to the empowerment of women.
