SuperSport TV announces that it will now show all 52 AFCON games.
Multichoice has announced a significant U-turn, with SuperSport TV now airing all 52 games of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
Bafana Bafana hopes to win just their second AFCON championship; they last prevailed in the tournament in 1996.
The team is optimistic after finishing first in their group and ahead of top-ranked Morocco in the AFCON qualifiers.
When Multichoice first announced that they had been unable to obtain the rights to Africa’s largest showpiece, it caused a significant stir throughout the continent.
Nevertheless, Multichoice has now announced that, following a deal with New World TV, the rights holders, it will broadcast every AFCON game live.
“SuperSport will broadcast all 52 matches of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023 (AFCON) live after MultiChoice secured the rights to broadcast the continent’s showpiece tournament, which kicks off on 13 January 2024 until 11 February 2024. MultiChoice reached a commercially viable agreement with rightsholders, New World TV (NWTV), to broadcast the 34th edition of Africa’s premier men’s football competition taking place in Ivory Coast.
