Mzansi Magic’s new telenovela, Champions, is set to grace our screens this February. The new drama boasts an impressive lineup, including Sello Maake ka-Ncube, Kgomotso Christopher, Tumisho Masha, and Jo-anne Reyneke, as well as introducing the breakout duo of Rethabile Mohapi and Minkie Malatji.
In a world where the playing field is tough and the stakes are sky-high, Sne Modise, portrayed by Jo-anne Reyneke, becomes a symbol of resilience and ambition in a male-dominated soccer empire. As she navigates the storm caused by sudden changes in her father’s life, Sne finds herself facing a series of challenges, love, and betrayal. Despite the intense drama, Sne, as the underdog, rises to the top, determined to challenge gender norms and lead the Soshanguve Giants F.C. to success. However, the burning question remains: Can she emerge victorious in an arena where the rules of the game are constantly shifting?
Champions is produced by Tshedza Pictures, the production house behind shows like The River, Adulting, and Gqeberha: The Empire. Viewers can expect passion, power, perseverance, and the ultimate triumph.
“Champions uniquely embodies the spirit of South Africa, aiming to inspire and excite our audience. It’s a celebration of ambition, positivity, and the resilience of our people. Tshedza Pictures is thrilled to collaborate again with Mzansi Magic, and we eagerly anticipate the moment our viewers will join us on this incredible journey,” says Executive Producer, Phathutshedzo Makwarela.
