Case against former Eskom boss Matshela Koko struck from the roll.
The case against former Eskom CEO Matshela Koko and others was struck off the roll by the court on Tuesday. The court determined that Koko and his co-accused’s R2.2 billion corruption case had been unfairly delayed.
The National Director of Public Prosecutions’ letter attesting to the case’s readiness for trial should be brought with the State when the case is brought back before the court, the court ordered.
Point of View with Phemelo Motene spoke with the Head of Investigations at Open Secrets, Michael Marchant about the case.

The spokesperson for the NPA’s said the state would abide by the judgment, but wouldn’t rush to reinstate the matter.
“In order to be able to bring people to court, to formulate charge sheets and essentially indictments to be ventilated in our higher courts – it does take time because of the complexities, the systems, the enablers and that are doing those things.”
“So, we won’t be putting a time frame or any further pressure on the Investigating Directorate until we’ve remedied the issues that the magistrate says we must look into.”
