A pyrotechnics expert was accused of planting a bomb at the African Football League (AFL) final between Mamelodi Sundowns and Wydad AC on Sunday, 12 November.
Charles Max was contracted by the AFL management to set up and manage a fireworks display and confetti for the league winners trophy presentation.
However, supporters who were at the stadium took to social media to share a post that said “this man was planting a bomb” at the Loftus Versveld stadium.
Charles who works for Starburst Pyro, a professional pyrotechnics and fireworks display company, and had all the necessary permits on him, but was escorted out from the stadium by police.
South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe warns the public that making hoax bomb threats is a crime.

Mamelodi Sundowns were crowned Champions after defeating the Moroccan team 2-0, winning by a 3-2 aggregate.
