The court ruled that Jackie Phamotse is guilty on all four counts in a defamation case brought by Basetsana and Romeo Kumalo.
The roots of the legal saga can be traced back to a tweet posted by Jackie Phamotse in 2018.
Basetsana Kumalo has hailed this judgement as a victory not just for herself but for all those who have suffered from cyberbullying and defamation.
She sees it as a landmark decision that sets a precedent for addressing the serious consequences of online harassment.
Kumalo’s statement also reflects the toll that such allegations can take on individuals and their families, making it clear that the impact goes beyond the digital realm.
The sentencing phase of the trial has been postponed to October 24th.
