Musk says X (formerly known as Twitter) users will soon start paying a monthly fee.
Elon Musk has stated his intention to charge users of the social media site X, formerly known as Twitter.
In a live stream talk with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the billionaire entrepreneur reportedly disclosed that the business would introduce a “small monthly payment” in an effort to counter the proliferation of phony accounts and “vast armies of bots.”
According to the New York Post, Musk did not disclose precise information regarding the new fee, such as its pricing or whether it would have extra features, despite his long-standing concerns about the existence of false accounts on the network.
“The single most important reason we’re moving to have a small monthly payment for use of the X system is it’s the only way I can think of to combat vast armies of bots,” said Musk
He furthers said: “It’s a longer discussion, but in my view, this is the only defense against vast armies of bots, because as AI gets very, very good, it’s actually able to pass these sort of CAPTCHA tests better than humans.”
