Johannesburg Emergency Services have managed to contain the blaze that broke out at another hijacked building in the CBD on Friday, 15 September.
The building on the corner of Delvers and Cornelius Street, Marshalltown used to be a factory, but is now occupied illegally.
People have built shacks inside the building, and according to reports, one of the shacks caught fire, which quickly spread.
Thick, black smoke is bellowing out of the building, after firefighters extinguished the fire, and evacuated the 3-storey building.
This comes just two weeks after 77 people lost their lives in a devastating fire at a hijacked building in Marshalltown.
Xolile Khumalo from the Johannesburg Fire Department, says the fire started on the ground floor, and firefighters are still busy on scene.
No injuries or casualties have been reported, and emergency services responded to the fire timeously.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage and fire safety inspectors will be conducting an investigation to determine what caused the blaze.
Khumalo said she could not estimate how many people were pulled out of the building, but that there were a large number of people residing in the building.
