Queen Ndlovu, CEO and Founder of QP Drone Tech is changing the game of drone economy, by providing aerial analysis for the mining and agriculture sectors, amongst others.
The Pretoria-based company offers commercial drone services such as mapping, inspection, disaster management, and surveying to clients.
Ndlovu is also recognized as one of the top-rated internationally published drone authors on Amazon, for a book she co-authored which reached No.1 in the US and Germany.
The ambitious businesswoman is also the first female of unmanned aircraft in South Africa and has now partnered with another drone company for delivery services.
Speaking to Gugulethu Mfuphi on Kaya Biz, Queen Ndlovu says she started her drone company because she knows the technology can change lives.
“I saw countries such as Rwanda launching drone delivery services, and that excited me. When KZN was hit by the floods, I realized that my drones could have been used for search and rescue.
We could have saved many more lives if our drones were there.
The whole idea is to inform decision makers of these vulnerable areas, and ensure that we do not have to be caught unaware in future.
When you are prepared for disasters in your country, the risks are lessened. QP Drone Tech exists in a time when the drone industry in SA is still a burgeoning one with little investment from the public and private sectors.”
The lack of investment has not deterred the serial entrepreneur – who counts a maritime business, property, and an artisan school and trade centre as part of her portfolio – from pursuing her dream of becoming a global player in the tech space.
Ndlovu has jumped into the drone game head-first and is looking to own a manufacturing facility in South Africa and a satellite office in Nigeria.
