COPE national spokesperson Dennis Bloem has resigned from the party.
Congress of the People (COPE) national Spokesperson, Dennis Bloem has announced his resignation from the political party with immediate effect.
Bloem who has been a long standing member of COPE, represented the party in the National Council of Provinces from 2009 to 2014 and before that he represented the African National Congress in Parliament from 1994 to 2009.
He tendered in his resignation on Friday.
Prior to the elections in 2024, the party has been damaged by divisions.
Earlier this year, Bloem was removed from the party’s CNC’s membership list along with Willie Madisha and Mzwandile Hleko.

Bloem has told KayaNews that he no longer wants to associate with a party that does not respect its own constitution.
He also said he would have a press conference to give the full details of his resignation.
“I can tell you that it was not an easy decision, it was very difficult but it had to happen that I resign. I could not take it anymore.
“This thing of Deputy President Willie Madisha and Comrade Hleko being expelled from the Congress of the People had a very big influence in my decision.” said Bloem
