Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi stopped to greet and shake the hands of his supporters in Johannesburg, en-route to the 15th BRICS Summit.
Modi, who spotted the crowd of Indian expats waiting for him on the side of a busy road, had his security detail stop so he could get out of his convoy and greet his supporters.
Chanting, “Modi, Modi, Modi,” a number of people waved the Indian tri-colours and proudly belted out “Jai Hind”, which means long live India.

This is a stark contrast to South African advocacy groups who wanted the Indian Head of State arrested upon his arrival in South Africa, for several human rights violations.
The Muslim Lawyer Association and the South Africa Kashmiri Action Group are calling for Indian Prime Minister (PM), Narendra Modi to be arrested in South Africa when he attends the BRICS Summit.
The two groups lodged a joint complaint with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) and SAPS to arrest, investigate and possibly prosecute Modi when he arrives in the country in August.
This despite the South African government granting all BRICS delegates immunity for the duration of the summit.
Modi has been accused of several crimes in Indian-occupied Kashmir including evidence of abduction, tortures, rapes, extra-judicial killing, arson attacks and illegal arrest of political leaders and innocent civilians.
