South African media personality Pearl Thusi has taken to social media to honour the memory of the late Kwaito artist, Mshoza.
Accompanied by a snapshot of herself with Mshoza, Pearl shared her remembrance, expressing, “Rest easy, baby girl… I think of you so often.”
Mshoza, whose birth name was Nomasonto Maswanganyi, passed away in November 2020 due to complications arising from diabetes. The artist first revealed that she was diabetic in 2014, after a hospitalization for health concerns.
Mshoza’s rise to fame as the ‘First Lady of Kwaito’ was propelled by her chart-topping hit Kortes from her debut album, BullDawgz First Lady, during the early 2000s.
In 2019, Mshoza brought her unique charm to ‘Good Friday with Skhumba and Ndumiso,’ making a guest appearance on the show. The musician had the hosts and viewers alike in stitches as she shared stories from her early days in the music industry, sharing the journey that ignited her passion for the spotlight.
