Nadia Nakai has scooped Hip Hop Artist of the Year at the Basadi In Music Awards.
The 33-year old rapper, known by her stage name Bragga, said she was really grateful to have won the honour.
Nadia who was in Zambia with DJ Zinhle, missed the awards but shared a motivational message with her fans to never give up on their dreams.
“I remember when I started performing, I didn’t have a DJ. So, I’d go to events, asking any DJ that was there to please play my tracks from a flash.
A lot of the times the DJs that I approached didn’t know who I was, I just went on faith, and I didn’t allow myself to be demotivated because I didn’t have a DJ.
Now, I have my own DJ, we’ve been working together for 8-years, and I love him, and appreciate him, because I remember what it was like when I didn’t have him, and I was feeling the heat.
So, don’t let anyone derail you from your dreams.
It hasn’t always been a smooth sailing journey being Bragga, I literally kept on pushing until I got to where I am today.”

It hasn’t been an easy year for Nadia, who lost her partner, rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes in February, and has been struggling to cope with his death.
Since his passing Nadia has spoken out about going through life without him, and has even shared that she no longer fears death anymore, if it means she can see him again.
AKA was gunned down outside a restaurant on Florida Road, Durban, in an apparent hit. His killers have not been arrested and there have been no developments in his murder case.
