Today marks a year since South Africa went into a lockdown when your Mjolo with COVID-19 officially began.
Let’s be honest, life as we knew it changed drastically, things that we all took for granted before, such as hugs, seeing friends at birthday parties, dinners out together were no longer known as healthy and harmless.
We asked Kaya 959 listeners if Covid-19 was a lover, how they would describe it? What has this new relationship taken them through in the past 12 months? These were some of their responses.
@tboseZA This is a kinda of lover that I need through sickness & in health!! We have taken our love into different levels, when others get frustrated by each other. We’ve been enjoying each other, quarantined looked at each other eye to eye. It’s gangster ❤️#1YearOfMjoloWithCOVID

Growth wise, I’ve never been in a better relationship uncle T. The past year has brought with it growth in all aspects of my life. Better decision making? #1YearOfMjoloWithCovid @tboseZA

You Lost Relationships
Covid-19 stopped you from spending time with friends and family, you couldn’t move between provinces, you were a hostage in your own home. To avoid conflict with your partner you had to adhere to the regulations and you couldn’t even leave to bury your loved ones.
Controlling Partner
Your movements were controlled, precisely where you were allowed to go, and when you could go out. When you got to your destination , Covid-19 told you to keep your distance and wanted you back home at a specific time.
Ignored Your Needs
You had to go along with whatever Covid wanted you to do, this was an unofficial agreement. Even when it went against your wishes or comfort level, you still had to. It was non-negotiable.
