EFF leader Julius Malema addressed the media at the political party’s 10th-anniversary press conference held at the Winnie Madikizela Mandela House in Johannesburg. During his address, Malema touched on various topics, including the issue of barring MPs, MPLs, and councilors who failed to raise funds to transport their constituents to the celebration at FNB Stadium last weekend.
Following the press conference, a discussion on 959 Breakfast addressed the points made by Malema. Mpho Maboi questioned the call to source funds for transporting people to the FNB Stadium, especially for leaders in communities with more pressing issues.
In response, Sizwe Dhlomo acknowledged that Malema had stated he would listen to each individual’s story. However, Dhlomo also emphasized that the party was looking for overall value and performance, not just this one key performance indicator (KPI). He further supported Malema’s stance on non-performers, asserting that the party couldn’t “tolerate members who were not actively working to address the needs of their communities.”
Listeners shared whether they think Malema is being harsh or whether he is holding his councilors accountable.
