The price of petrol is expected to go up in August.
With fuel costs predicted to rise, August won’t be good for drivers.
The Central Energy Fund (CEF) estimates that motorists should expect a price increase of 20 to 25 cents per liter for petrol and 60 cents per liter for diesel.
The predicted increase in fuel costs has been caused by an increase in global oil prices, despite the rand’s strength against the dollar.

If oil prices continue to rise until prices are finalized at the end of the week, in a press statement released by the Automobile Association (AA), they have warned that the fuel price increase could even be higher.
“The data is showing diesel will increase by about 72c/l which will effectively mean consumers will have to pay more for goods and services down the line.”
“Illuminating paraffin is also expected to increase by around 72c/l. These are all significant upwards adjustments which will impact on all South Africans,” said the AA.
