Unpacking the latest expulsions of COPE members.
The court is anticipated to rule on the struggle for control within the Congress of the People (Cope). Willie Madisha, a Cope MP, filed a lawsuit against Mosiuoa Lekota, a fellow party member.

Madisha said he was not kicked out of the party during a media briefing on Monday in Kempton Park and claimed he was putting the finishing touches on a court filing to clear his name and demonstrate how Lekota had taken over the party’s infrastructure.
The basis of Madisha’s court appeal would be the assertion that he can only be ousted as party head by an election congress.
“I am the deputy president of the party, duly elected by the people, elected in the national congress by the people. A rented choir will not remove us without a political mandate.”
“I am sending a warning to the rented choir that your time is up, and we know of your corrupt activities, and the long arm of the law is closing. Repent and tell the truth, or we will do it for you,” he said
