SANDF soldiers have been deployed to intervene in ongoing truck attacks
In response to the truck arson assaults, the South African National Defense Force (SANDF) has confirmed the deployment of its personnel in four provinces to assist the police.
The SANDF will support law enforcement in the Free State, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, and Limpopo.
Over the past week, more than 20 trucks have been set on fire.
Police made a breakthrough on Thursday when they detained two truck drivers in Mpumalanga. The suspects, 29 and 27, were taken into custody.
Point of View with Phemelo Motene spoke to National Police Spokesperson Athlenda Mathe following the arrest of 2 people in connection with the recent spate of truck attacks in the country.

Three suspects have been detained and will likely appear in court on Monday.
Bheki Cele, the police minister, claimed on Wednesday that there is evidence of “organized, coordinated, and sophisticated operations” aimed at undermining and sabotaging the government.
He claimed that 12 “people of interest” had been found during investigations and intelligence gathering.
