Zandie Khumalo writes to Ramaphosa asking him to intervene in the Senzo Meyiwa case.
Zandie Khumalo, a witness in the Senzo Meyiwa murder case, has written a letter to President Cyril Ramaphosa asking for his intervention.
She is appealing for a quicker trial as people affected by Senzo Meyiwa’s murder seek closure.
In 2014, Meyiwa was shot dead after a scuffle with one of the two burglars who broke into the Vosloorus home of the Khumalo family. Kelly Khumalo, his then-girlfriend, her mother Ntombi, sister Zandie, Zandie’s boyfriend Longwe Twala, and Senzo’s pals Mthokozisi Thwala and Tumelo Madlala were all in attendance as well.

Khumalo requested that the trial be given “serious priority” by the office of the president and chief justice.
“I would like for the sake of the families who haven’t found closure after so long to request that one court be earmarked specifically for this case, a specific law team be appointed to deal with nothing else but this case, and this case be in court from Monday to Friday until it is concluded and a verdict has been given.
“All critical and required evidence has been collected and has been analysed, so let the court run its course now, uninterrupted. Mr President, I think I speak for almost everyone when I say the postponements, delays and breaks have been more than enough and it is time we do away with them.” wrote Khumalo
