South African football coach Pitso Mosimane lost out on the Coach of the Season Award despite leading his side Al Ahli Saudi to first place and promotion to the first division with 77 points obtained from 33 games.
In addition, Mosimane was voted coach of the month twice. The snub left fans infuriated, as Mosimane was the clear favourite to win the award.
“How did Pitso Mosimane who won the League title didn’t receive the Coach of the Year award?” Tweeted a Journalist on Twitter.
Responding to the concerns from fans, Mosimane said that “winning promotion way before all the teams and winning the league is very important for the team.”
He added that he “values the team more than individual achievements.” Mosiame said that being awarded Coach of the Month on two occasions was enough.
“God says, be happy with what I give you, don’t envy neighbours, avoid greediness, we shall share and I love all my children,” said the South African coach.
