Vusi Thembekwayo is a wanted man, after a KwaZulu-Natal doctor accused the motivational speaker of failing to pay back a R390K loan.
Dr Jehron Pillay says his legal team, Dominique Aricum Attorneys are struggling to locate the businessman to serve him a summons that would force him to pay back the money he borrowed.
As reported by the Sunday World, the summons from Dominique Aricum could not be served to Thembekwayo who could not be located at his place of residence or work in the country.
Now, the medical doctor’s legal team are seeking a court order to serve Thembekwayo the summons via email.
According to the publication, Thembekwayo borrowed the large sum of money from the Cardiothoracic surgeon in July 2021.
Since then, Dr Pillay claims that Thembekwayo refused to sign the acknowledgement of debt in his personal name.
The summons which was issued on 13 January, delivered a return of no service, after the Sheriff noted that Thembekwayo could not be located at his business premises in Sandton.
In addition, Thembekwayo’s lawyer, Suzette Marx has reportedly refused to receive the summons on her client’s behalf, saying Thembekwayo did not give her instruction to do so.
The publication notes that Thembekwayo previously took two loans worth R500 000 each from Dr Pillay, and had reportedly put down his lawyer’s address as his point of contact to receive legal paperwork.
Vusi Thembekwayo has not responded to the allegations made against him.
Meanwhile the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is reportedly moving ahead with gender-based violence (GBV) charges against Vusi Thembekwayo.
This comes after Thembekwayo’s estranged wife, Palesa Makhetha filed for divorce citing their marriage had been marred because the motivational speaker had physically assaulted her.
Thembekwayo is accused of dragging Palesa out of bed, slapping her and demanding she leaves their home.
In addition to the abuse allegations, Palesa has accused Thembekwayo of cheating on her with a woman he travelled with frequently.
Thembekwayo and Palesa were married for 13-years and have 3 children together.
