A graphic video showing a black woman being assaulted in Franscchoek is gaining traction online.
Sharing the video Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) member, Mbulelo Dwane, called for people of Franschhoek to help identify the man who assaulted the woman until she bled.
The video shows the white man, who has since been identified as Johan van de Merve assaulting the woman he accuses of trying to steal his wife’s handbag and cellphone.
Van de Merve chases the unidentified woman into the pool and can be heard attacking her with several blows.
While the video itself doesn’t contain the assault, a second shorter clip shows the woman being held in the pool by another white woman as well as van de Merve.
Van de Merve can be heard saying, “You steal. You f**king steal, you are going to prison sissy.”
The incident reportedly took place at the Savoye Hotel in Franschhoek over the weekend.

The incident triggered another assault at a pool which the EFF were involved in getting justice for the victims.
In December last year, a family’s Christmas was marred by a racist attack at the Maselspoort Resort in Oranje, Free State.
Tumii Frost shared the violent attack her brothers were subjected to because they decided to make use of the swimming pool which was apparently “reserved for whites only.”
Tumii shared that her family were visiting her for the festive season and had decided to spend the day at the Maselspoort Resort and Conference Centre.
She recorded the moment when adult white men physically assaulted her teenage brothers, grabbing them by the neck, punching and pulling their hair.
With the help of the EFF who made a statement by going out in their numbers to swim at the “whites only” pool, the Maselspoort attackers were charged with attempted murder.
