Kidnapped Mangosuthu University (MUT) lecturer, Chanlall Dwarika was found dead on Saturday, 03 June.
Two men have since arrested, after an intense search for the 61-year old Electrical Engineering lecturer led to the gruesome discovery of his lifeless body in a field in Inanda, Durban.
Dwarika was kidnapped from his home in Sea Cow Lake, Durban on Sunday, 28 May.
CCTV footage showed Dwarika bein forced into his black SUV by three men.
Private security company, Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) said several leads pointed them to an informal settlement in Crow Place where a person of interest was brought in for questioning.
“RUSA officers and detectives from Greenwood Park SAPS followed several leads which resulted in a person of interest in the case being arrested at an informal area in Crow Place on Wednesday, 31 May.
During an interview with reaction officers and SAPS officers, the man was confronted with an indentikit of a second individual who was sought for questioning in Dwarika’s abduction.
He confirmed that the person was known to him and offered to point out his residence.

Dwarika’s abductors drove to several locations, purchasing alcohol using the lecturers ATM cards, before he was murdered. His body was then dumped in a bush in Inanda.
Police are still searching for two others in connection with the kidnapped MUT lecturer’s death.
