The late DJ Sumbody’s mother reportedly loses Ayepyep nightclub to Sumbody’s business partner.
The late DJ Sumbody’s mother and his business partner, Kagiso Setsetse, are at odds over the singer’s estate and their joint nightclub.
DJ Sumbody, real name Oupa John Sefoka, died in a hail of bullets in the early hours of the 20th of November 2022.
Setsetse has reportedly said DJ Sumbody’s mother gave illegal orders to staff members to turn over equipment and bank card terminals.
The main area of contention was whether Maputo Sefoka had the right to be named the executrix of the estate in accordance with the terms of a shareholders agreement between Setsetse and DJ Sumbody.

Sunday World reported over the weekend that Setsetse has filed a lawsuit, alleging that Sefoka improperly ordered staff members at their joint nightclub, Ayepyep in Pretoria, to turn over equipment and bank card terminals.

In the letter, which has reportedly been seen by Sunday World, Setsetse said he had written letters to DJ Sumbody’s mother requesting that she send proof of her appointment as executrix of the estate, including a copy of the musician’s death certificate.
The publication also revealed that despite Maputo Violet Sefoka (DJ Sumbody’s mother) being the executrix of the singer’s estate, she has been barred from entering Ayepyep premises without permission.
“According to the shareholders agreement, should one of the shareholders die, the executor of the estate shall be deemed to have offered the deceased shares to the existing shareholder at a fair value.
“The remaining shareholder shall be entitled, within a period of 15 business days, following the presentation in writing of the independent auditor’s valuation, of the deceased shareholders shares. Whenever the fair value of a share is required to be determined, the shareholders shall attempt to agree to such value in writing.”
