UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan built a R20 million runway to land on in the Eastern Cape.
Sheikh Al Nahyan who landed on his royal private jet on his personal runway, entered the country with 500 guests.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) royal is expected to spend the auspicious Islamic celebration, Eid al-Fitr, the end of the fasting month of Ramadaan, in the Eastern Cape, where he owns a private game resort.
As reported by News24, the UAE President met the Eastern Cape Premier, Oscar Mabuyane during his recent trip to the middle east country.
When Mabuyane heard the Arab leader planned on visiting the Eastern Cape, the provincial government decided to deal with any red tape to make the trip possible.
On another level
Sheikh Al Nahyan landed in the Eastern Cape on Wednesday, 19 April and brought with him five helicopters on a cargo plane.
The wealthy family and all guests also brought their own furniture, gym equipment and cars for their 2-week stay in the Eastern Cape.
According to the report, the Eastern Cape is hoping to explore possible trade and investment opportunities with the UAE.
The sectors of mutual interest between the UAE and the Eastern Cape include renewable and green energy, oil, gas, manufacturing, agro-processing, and industrialisation.
In 2018, President Cyril Ramaphosa sparked financial commitments worth $20 billion (R364 billion) between the UAE and South Africa.
The Arab leader’s private game resort in the Eastern Cape was built and completed from scratch this year, on a gigantic piece of land Sheikh Al Nahyan bought two years ago.
