Four children narrowly escaped from a stolen Mercedes Benz crashing into them in Cradock, Eastern Cape.
CCTV footage captured the harrowingly close moment the white vehicle hurtles towards the children who were walking along the sidewalk.
This after the suspect lost control of the vehicle and hit a light pole which caused the car to roll over three times before landing on its roof.
According to reports, the suspect was being chased by Cradock K9 and Graaf-Reinet K9 units who were notified that the Mercedes Benz was stolen in George.
The suspect was spotted driving from Graaf-Reinet towards Middelburg, and a high-speed chase ensued.
Prior to the vehicle crashing into the light pole, the suspect failed to stop at 4-way intersection and made contact with a bakkie causing the driver to lose control.
The incident occurred on Sunday, 16 April at 13h27, and no injuries were reported.
A quick response from police ensured the suspect was apprehended.
Police said the 4 children were shaken but unharmed, and they were fortunate, to get out of the way before the car crashed.
