With a number of celebrities being scrutinized for their past photographs taken with Dr Nandipha Magudumana resurfacing, Sizwe Dhlomo touched on how photos have a way of coming back to bite you.
Just a few days ago, Redi Tlhabi and Moshe Ndiki amongst others have since spoken out about having no contact with the aesthetics doctor who is implicated in convicted rapist and murderer, Thabo Bester’s escape from prison.
After seeing an old picture of his best friend, Trevor Noah and Dr Nandipha online, the Kaya Drive presenter reiterated his concerns about taking pictures with people and posting these snaps online.
This is why Sizwe is hesitant about taking photos in general, but being in the limelight puts the personality in a difficult position.
Getting caught in a social media faux pas is pretty common today, as digging through archives has become somewhat of a past time, particularly with the Thabo Bester and Dr Nandipha saga.
Photo manipulation
Another point of contention is that photo manipulation by retouching or photoshopping is a very real thing today.
This was made apparent when AI-generated images of former US President Donald Trump being arrested went viral a few weeks ago.
The fake images of Trump surfaced when news that the politician and businessman’s possible indictment over payment of hush money to a woman he allegedly had an affair with broke.
Despite the fact that Trump has not yet been charged with a crime.
So, as much as Sizwe doesn’t have any pictures taken with the celebrity doctor who is facing charges of aiding and abetting a fugitive, murder, violation of bodies and fraud, that can very easily change.
