Thabo Bester lived in the lap of luxury whilst serving time at the Mangaung Correctional Center, enjoying romantic prison getaways with his accomplice Dr Nandipha Magudumana.
This was revealed by GroundUp, which reports that Mzansi’s “Bonnie and Clyde” couple took multiple 5-star trips with the assistance of G4S security officials.
The private security company reportedly served as Bester’s personal chauffeur service, driving the convicted rapist and murderer from Bloemfontein to Ballito, where he would meet Dr Nandipha and her daughters.
Dr Nandipha shared pictures from their trips, crediting the pair’s property company Arum Properties/Travel for the “much needed change in scenery.”
According to the report, Dr Nandipha and Bester made the bookings for their trips using aliases, Tom Nkwana for Bester whilst the doctor posed as, Dr Enjoy Magudumana Nkwana.
Whilst still in prison, Bester and Dr Nandipha enjoyed trips between April 2021 and March 2022, shortly before the fugitive faked his death and escaped from the facility in May 2022.
Inside Bester and Dr Nandipha’s prison getaways
Bester and Dr Nandipha used their last trip to Ballito in March to put the finishing touches of his escape plan into place. One room was booked under Bester’s alias from March 09 – 11, while Dr Nandipha booked two additional rooms for March 11 – 13 and March 12 – 14.
Dr Nandipha then booked herself into the same hotel days leading up to Bester’s grand escape from April 19 – 30 2022.
Mzansi’s Bonnie and Clyde reportedly forked out more than R120 000 on these trips.
The publication claims police failed to collect an invoice of one of the couple’s prison getaways, from the Hyde Park property that was abandoned weeks before Bester and Nandipha were apprehended in Tanzania.
