Maria Mabaso, who is reportedly Thabo Bester’s mother, reveals she should have given him up for adoption as a child

Meisie Maria Mabaso, the woman who is reportedly Thabo Bester’s mother, revealed that she should have given him up for adoption as a child.

In an exclusive interview with EWN, Mabaso said she lives a humble life, while her son was living in luxury in a Hyde Park mansion.

Mabaso said she only took care of Thabo until he was a year old, which was when she left him with her mother because she needed to go find work.

The 58-year old shared that when her mother fell ill and later died, she lost track of her son, until she saw Thabo on TV when news that her son had raped and murdered a woman in Cape Town broke.

Mabaso said she couldn’t understand what her son was doing in Cape Town because they don’t have any family there.

Maria Mabaso said Thabo Bester is a product of rape and his father was never in the picture.

She claims she was raped one night when she was visiting her sister by an unknown man who left her for dead on the side of the road.

“Did I knowThabo was going to be naughty like his father? If I knew that I would have given him away because somebody wanted Thabo. An Indian family in Lenasia wanted Thabo, and I said no. I didn’t know he was such a naughty child.”

Thabo’s mother said she was threatened after taking a DNA test to prove that she is the convicted rapist and murderer’s mother.

According to Mabaso, her home was ransacked by people who told her she is going to regret taking the DNA test because she had caused unnecessary problems for them.

Mabaso said she named her son Thabo Bester when he was born at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.

Bester is Mabaso’s grandmother’s surname, and she was told to give her son her granny’s surname because her mother remarried and she was not allowed to give Thabo her mother’s surname.

Mabaso said she was also born a Bester but when her aunt was getting her ID made, she changed her surname to that of her uncle and aunt’s which is Mabaso.
