Oscar Pistorius’ hopes for parole were denied on Friday, 31 March after the Correctional Supervision and Parole Board (CSPB) ruled against releasing the former paralympian on parole.
Pistorius who is serving time for the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp has been pushing for an early release of his 15-year sentence.
However, the Department of Correctional Services confirmed that Pistorius has not served the minimum detention period as ruled by the Supreme Court of Appeal.
According to the CSPB, Pistorius will have another opportunity to appear before the board in August 2024.

The news of Oscar Pistorius’ parole being denied was met with relief from Reeva’s family as well as Women For Change.
Advocating for Pistorius to remain behind bars has been one of the non-profit organisation’s biggest fights. The organisation stood behind the Steenkamps, opposing the parole application of Pistorius.
The Steenkamps believe that Pistorius has failed to admit his guilt or show any remorse for murdering their daughter.
Oscar Pistorius still maintains that he believed he was shooting at an intruder who had broken into their home and refuses to admit that he knew Reeva was behind the bathroom door.
