
Sivuyile Ngodwana an AIC councillor sworn in as Ekurhuleni’s new mayor.
On Thursday, Sivuyile Ngodwana of the African Independent Congress (AIC) was ushered in as the Executive Mayor of the City of Ekurhuleni.
Ngodwana is the only member of the AIC in the Ekurhuleni council.
The victory came when 129 people voted for Ngodwana who was up against Tania Campbell of the Democratic Alliance (DA), who got 75 votes.
This comes after Campbell’s removal as mayor of Ekurhuleni, she was ousted in a vote of no confidence.

Out of the 217 council members who cast ballots, 126 supported her ouster as mayor and 91 opposed it.
