The Department of Correctional Services says it will take strong action against one of its prison warders for an alleged sexual act with an inmate.
This comes after a video of the duo at the Ncome Correctional Centre in KwaZulu-Natal circulated on social media.
The department says it has been left appalled by the actions.
“A video with flustering scenes of alleged sexual activities has left Correctional Services appalled, embarrassed and gutted,” said spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo.

He added the act was shameful and not what is expected of an official.
“Sexual activities between inmates and correctional officers are shameful incidents that can never be ascribed to what is expected of our officials. The official involved has been identified. Correctional officers are expected to abide by the Code of Conduct,” he said.
The department says the official and inmate will both face disciplinary hearings.
Nxumalo is appealing to people in possession of the video to not circulate it.
