UK government has lifted the ban on official contracts for Bain & Co.
The UK government has lifted its ban on Bain & Co, a global management consultancy, from bidding for official contracts following its role in a major South African corruption scandal.
Less than eight months after the ban’s introduction in August of last year, it has been removed.
The consulting company has recently been linked to allegations of corruption in connection with work it performed for the South African Revenue Service (Sars), pocketing millions in actions that were later exposed at the Zondo investigation as supporting state capture.

Due to alleged “corrupt and fraudulent practices” at the nation’s revenue service, South Africa separately banned Bain from tendering for public sector work for ten years last year.
A South African National Treasury database states that the company will be on a list of prohibited suppliers for government contracts until September 2032.
CJC Zondo found that the Bain & Company branch in South Africa colluded with former president Jacob Zuma and ex-Sars boss Tom Moyane to dismantle the tax agency.
