Electricity Minister says he is confident that load shedding will be resolved
Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, the Minister in the presidency in charge of electricity, has expressed confidence in the country’s ability to address its load-shedding issues.
Ramokgopa said during a visit to the Kusile power plant in Mpumalanga on Tuesday that his ultimate goal is to put an end to load shedding and assured top management at Kusile Power Station that the government will make every effort to help put an end to load shedding.
“The problem of load shedding will be resolved. Ultimately, the problem of electricity in this country will also be resolved,”
“We are all in this together, the problem of load shedding must end,”
“I am confident that we are going to resolve the electricity problem. We will be honest and transparent about where we are now in as far as resolving the problem.
“We have committed men and women with skills at Eskom. From the discussions we are having with Eskom, it is clear that the problem of load shedding will be resolved,” Ramokgopa said.

Ramokgopa has begun a two-week trip to tour Eskom power plants. This is done to gain first-hand knowledge of how the stations work and what difficulties or challenges the management faces in maintaining the power plants.
Ramokgopa began the trips on Monday at the power plants in Kriel and Duvha, and today he went to the Kusile and Kendal power plants.
Six coal-fired generating units each with an 800-megawatt output make up the Kusile Power Station, which has a total generating capability of 4,800 megawatts.
I engaged with the plant management, workers at the plant level and organised labour. These power station visits are an important tool to rally collective efforts to resolve the loadshedding crisis. #LeaveNoOneBehind pic.twitter.com/aWWlQMSgAt
