A passenger flying business class on a Japan Airlines flight was left disappointed when he received a banana as an in-flight meal.
Kris Chari, who was travelling from Jakarta, Indonesia to Tokyo, opted for the vegan meal and received a single banana.
Not as a snack, but as an entire meal.
Chari voiced his disappointment on an air travel forum, FlyerTalk and said he could not understand how the banana was thought of as appropriate to serve to vegans as a meal.
“Before takeoff today, my flight attendant confirmed that I ordered the vegan meal and that my breakfast was a banana, by which I mistakenly assumed she meant that breakfast included a banana.
When she served the banana after takeoff, I thought it was just an underwhelming appetizer, but it was in fact the entire meal service. It was a really good banana, one of the best I’ve had recently, but it still seems more appropriate as a snack. Is catering out of CGK typically this underwhelming?”
Chari was not offered a sandwich, salad, vegan cheese or breads, and said his lunch was equally unappetizing, having been served unseasoned dry pasta.
